You can control Things on your Mac with keyboard shortcuts. We have listed all shortcuts below.




Create new items

⌘ Cmd + N Create a new to-do
Space Create a new to-do below selection
⌘ Cmd + ⇧ Shift + N Create a new heading in a project
⌘ Cmd + ⌥ Opt + N Create a new project
Ctrl + Space Open Quick Entry
⌥ Opt + Ctrl + Space Open Quick Entry with Autofill

Edit items

↩ Return Open a to-do or project
⌘ Cmd + ↩ Return Save and close
Esc Save and close
⌘ Cmd + D Duplicate a to-do or project
⌘ Cmd + . Complete selected items
⌘ Cmd + ⌥ Opt + . Cancel selected items
⌘ Cmd + L Move completed to Logbook

Move items

⌘ Cmd + ⇧ Shift + M Move selection to another list
⌘ Cmd + Move selection up
⌘ Cmd + Move selection down

Ctrl + ] Start date +1 day

Tags

To assign a shortcut to a tag, open the tag window, click into the square to the right of the tag’s name and press any key.

⌘ Cmd + ⇧ Shift + T Open tag window
Esc Close tag window
Ctrl + shortcut Toggle a tag for selected to-do
⌥ Opt + Ctrl + shortcut Filter for a tag
⌘ Cmd + click any tag Select multiple tags
Ctrl + Esc Destroy previous filter
⌘ Cmd + ⌥ Opt + ↩ Return Open a link
