Maintaining Your Siri Shortcuts

Last Updated: Sep 19, 2018 01:15PM CEST

Here's how you can manage the shortcuts you've created via Things' shortcut builder.

This article is part of a series on using Siri with Things. If you are looking for more ways to use Siri, please check out this page.

When you create a preset or ready-made to-do, you might want to remove them when you no longer need them, or re-record the voice command.

Delete a custom Siri shortcut

  1. On your iOS device, go to Settings > Siri & Search.
  2. Scroll down until you find Things.
  3. Under the heading MY THINGS SHORTCUTS you'll see all presets and ready-made to-dos you created via the Things shortcut builder.
  4. Swipe left on the shortcut to delete it.

Re-record a voice command

  1. On your iOS device, go to Settings > Siri & Search.
  2. Scroll down until you find Things.
  3. Under the heading MY THINGS SHORTCUTS you'll see all presets and ready-made to-dos you created via the Things shortcut builder.
  4. Tap the shortcut to edit it, then tap Re-record Phrase and speak a new phrase.

Edit a custom Siri shortcut

At this time, it's not possible to edit an existing shortcut to change it. You will have to re-create the shortcut in Things > Settings > Siri & Shortcuts.

Suggested Shortcuts

When you use Things, Siri will learn your routines and it might start making suggestions to you based on your past interactions. If you find the suggestions useful, you can create voice commands for them as well.

  1. On your iOS device, go to Settings > Siri & Search.
  2. Scroll down until you find Things.
  3. You'll see Siri's suggestions under the heading SUGGESTED SHORTCUTS.
  4. Tap one to record a phrase.

Because the content here isn't managed by Things but by Siri you can add voice commands to these shortcuts, but not delete them.

Recent Shortcuts

When you use Things, we tell Siri what you are doing (within certain limitations) so it can make better suggestions to you in the future. If you are speaking to-dos to Siri, Siri will donate the entire content of your new to-do to Siri suggestions.

Because the content here isn't managed by Things but by Siri you can add voice commands to these shortcuts, but not delete them.

Prevent Things from appearing in Siri Suggestions

If you would like to stop Siri from collecting information about your interactions with Things and no longer offer you suggestions, you can do that here:

  1. On your iOS device, go to Settings > Siri & Search > .
  2. Scroll down until you find Things.
  3. Disable Search, Suggestions & Shortcuts.
