Here’s everything you need to know about importing your to-dos from Things 2 into Things 3 and how to sync them between your devices.
How do I move my to-dos from Things 2 to Things 3?
We recommend using the local transfer of to-dos from Things 2 to Things 3. It’s the easiest and fastest method to get started.
When you launch Things 3 for the first time, the app will check if Things 2 is installed. When it detects the previous version, it will inform you that you can import your to-dos directly on your device. For this, you don’t need internet access or a Things Cloud account.
- In the menu bar at the top of your screen, click Things > Preferences.
- In the preference pane, click Import from Things 2 > Import Now.
- At the bottom of the main view, tap > Import Your To-Dos.
- Tap Import Now.
- At the bottom of the main view, tap Settings > Import Your To-Dos.
- Tap Import Now.
If you’re using Things for Apple Watch, follow the instructions in the iPhone tab above to import to-dos from Things 2 to Things 3.
I don’t have Things 2 installed on this device, but I have a Things Cloud account.
You can log into your Things Cloud account in Things 3 and download your to-dos to your device.

Can I sync my to-dos between Things 2 and Things 3?
No. Things 3 uses a different sync schema. Once you connect Things 3 to your Things Cloud account and make any change to your data, Things 2 will no longer be able to read the data. If you’d like to go back to using Things 2 with Things Cloud, please have a look here.
